Community Investment

At Port Arthur LNG, our goal is to build a world-class facility to provide abundant, clean, reliable, and affordable U.S. natural gas to the world. Equally important are the relationships and positive impact we make in the community along the way.

Since 2015, when Port Arthur LNG’s liquefaction project development started, we have invested more than $1.8 million in Jefferson County communities with organizations helping to make our neighborhoods a better place to work, live and play.

Road for the Future

Our Road for the Future project represents a more than $140 million investment in the community. The relocation of a 3.5-mile portion of Highway 87 between the Intracoastal Waterway and Keith Lake Pass was completed in 2022, meeting the rigorous Texas Department of Transportation standards. As part of the relocation construction project, pipelines were consolidated and upgraded including a portion of the City of Port Arthur’s waterline serving the Sabine Pass community. Port Arthur LNG invested more than $40 million with thirty-five local vendors in Jefferson County communities to procure needed materials and services. Additionally, the National Safety Council awarded Port Arthur LNG a Perfect Record Award in recognition of the more than 1.7 million hours worked without a recordable safety incident.

Our Commitment

By living our values of doing the right thing, championing people, and shaping the future, we build strong community partnerships that are paramount to developing trust and transparency. We work with local community groups to invest in projects and initiatives in the areas of emergency preparedness and safety, environmental stewardship, education, economic prosperity and leadership development.

Emergency Preparedness & Safety

At Port Arthur LNG, health, safety and security of our workforce and communities is at the center of everything we do. We are invested in being an industry leader and accomplish this by championing health, safety and security programs that protect our people, contractors, and operations. Through our emergency preparedness and safety initiatives, not only do we build on partnerships with local law enforcement, fire, and rescue departments to support programs that protect our communities, but we also fund local non-profit organizations that help eradicate hunger, provide vital health screenings and services, and assist families with basic needs and bill assistance.

Environmental Stewardship

In addition to meeting or exceeding all local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements on our project, one of our priorities at Port Arthur LNG is to work with organizations like Texas Parks and Wildlife to improve our environment’s sustainability in urban and natural ecosystems. We seek out local environmental partners and invest in efforts that help preserve and protect wildlife habitats, restore the coastal beach and wetland areas and support beautification efforts in our communities

Education

Today’s students are not only tomorrow’s workforce, but leaders who will shape our future. We are proud to partner with local schools in the Sabine Pass and Port Arthur Independent School Districts, colleges, universities and trade schools like Lamar State College, Lamar University, and Lamar Institute of Technology. We support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs, as well as provide STEM scholarships to deserving students to help grow our future leaders and workforce.

Economic Prosperity & Leadership Development

We contribute to the region’s economic prosperity with investments in job creation, new infrastructure, and support of community programs that help build resiliency. We focus on partnerships with organizations like the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Southeast Texas that provide for our communities’ responsible growth and development and foster engagement with local leadership on key regional issues to inspire open communication, trust, and respect.
